Two Tunnels and plenty of Hills

BALE20130406B-123_CStart at Brunel's Buttery, climb Dundry, Stanton Drew, Pensford (perhaps find a cafe), Newton St. Loe, The Tunnels, Collier's Way (lunch at the farm cafe or Radstock, Litton, Chew Valley lake cafe.
About 50 miles, quite hilly, please bring lights for the tunnels - not essential but recommended.

Bath with hills

About 40-50 miles, hills include Dundry and some others as the route goes through Pensford, Wellow and Newton St Loe. Lunch at Bath - byo, cafe or pub - tea on the way back at Bitton. Christmas at the Riviera - 25th December


Meet 9.30am at Brunel's Buttery for an easy paced, flat 35 miles ride to the Avon Riviera.
I will be taking a camping stove and things to make bacon and egg sandwiches, tea and coffee.
We can try to get back for the Queen's Speech which should be on the screen in Millenium Square - more tea and coffee and mince pies. Bring cycle lights just in case.
The whole day will depend on the weather and I will be put off by ice or other bad weather - see updates on this blog, on the day, for on/off information or call John Crinion 07780654036 after 7am on the day.
PLEASE CALL AT LEAST ONE DAY IN ADVANCE TO LET ME KNOW WHO IS COMING.

Avon Riviera - flat route

The ride will be about 35 to 40 miles. Morning cafe stop at Yatton where you will have the opportunity of eating the best toast in the world. We will stop again to enjoy the Avon Riviera - perhaps bring some fruit to avoid drooling when I eat my apple. Another stop at Clevedon for tea/beer/food ?
Return to Bristol via., Kenn Moor.

Avon Riviera 2

About 60 miles and about 6 hills including Dundry and Wrington hills.
Thick toast - lunch at Clevedon/Portishead, lots of choice here, pub, byo, chip shop etc., afternoon drinks stop, if the weather is dodgy then, on the day, either call me on 07780654036 or revisit this blog. Bring lights just in case.

Burnham-on-sea

A 90 mile ride - lunch at Burnham - morning and afternoon drinks stops.
Mainly a flat ride passing through the Somerset levels, Kenn Moor and the coastal towns of Burnham-on-sea and Clevedon. Cycle lights may be needed as it's a long ride - lights are also useful for the tunnel at Winscombe on the Strawberry Line.

The Bishop's Palace

The cafe and shop are free entry and are open every day between 10am and 6pm; to visit the Palace and Gardens costs about £7.
There is an outdoor pic-nic area for those who want to bring their own food and drink.
